The newsletter
This site’s log tells the build as it happens. The newsletter is its summary, for those who would rather receive the news than come looking for it.
What you get
At least one email a month, written by hand. When a phase of the project ends, a longer wrap-up is added: what was proven, what failed, what comes next.
In months when nothing moves, the email says so — that is this site’s whole principle. There will be no send just to fill the space.
What is kept
Your email address, and nothing else. No name, no IP address, no open or click tracking: the emails contain neither invisible images nor tracking links.
It is stored on the project’s own server, hosted in Canada, in self-hosted newsletter software. No third-party service ever receives it. It is kept as long as you stay subscribed, and destroyed within 24 hours of your leaving — immediately if you leave through the form on this page, at the next automatic sweep if you leave through the link at the bottom of an email.
One exception: an address our emails keep bouncing off — or one blocked at my request — is kept, precisely so that nothing further is sent to it. Write to vie-privee@omni-core.ca to have it erased as well.
How you subscribe
You tick the consent box, then you receive a confirmation email. Until you click the link it contains, you are not subscribed — that click is the consent, and it is the proof of it.
Without that click, the address does not wait forever: a single reminder goes out on day 15, and the address is erased automatically 30 days after your request — plus at most 12.5 hours, the time of the automatic sweep. Subscribe again in the meantime? The count restarts from that new request.
Manage, export or erase your subscription
Everything happens on a single page, without having to write to anyone: leaving, exporting your data, or erasing it permanently.
Two ways in, depending on what you need.
To unsubscribe, or to get your management link by email, the Manage my subscription page does both from the site, with nothing to look up.
To export or permanently erase your data, you need to open your management page: its address carries your subscriber identifier, which proves that mailbox is yours. Without it, anyone could export or erase someone else’s data just by knowing their address. You reach it through the “Manage subscription” link at the bottom of any email you received — or by having it sent to you from the page above.
No longer have any email from the newsletter? Write to vie-privee@omni-core.ca: your rights can be exercised that way too, with no conditions and no justification required.
