Privacy
Short version, because there is not much to say.
- No cookies. No trackers, no third-party scripts.
- No accounts. The site asks nothing of you in order to be read.
- One single collection, and only if you ask for it: the newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is kept — nothing else: no name, no IP address, no open or click tracking. It lives on the project’s own server, in self-hosted software; no third-party service receives it. The subscription only becomes active after the confirmation click sent to that address; without that click, the address is erased automatically 30 days after the request, after a single reminder on day 15. Every newsletter email carries a one-click unsubscribe link — the same page lets you export your data or erase it permanently. When you unsubscribe, the address is destroyed within 24 hours — except an address our emails keep bouncing off, or one blocked at my request, which is kept precisely so that nothing further is sent to it. Full details on The newsletter page.
- No audience statistics for now. The server keeps a technical access log in which the IP address is truncated before being written (last octet zeroed); it records the page requested, the time, the referring site and the browser type, and it is erased after 14 days. No data can identify you, so no consent banner is needed. If an aggregated audience report is ever produced from this log, this page will say so.
- Error log: the one exception — server errors (page not found, malformed request) are recorded with the full IP address, in the server’s native format, which cannot mask it. This log is used for technical diagnosis only, is never cross-referenced with anything else, and is erased after 3 days.
- Contact by email: if you write to me, your message stays in my mailbox, is shared with no one and is deleted on request.
- Hosting: static site served from an OVHcloud server.
- Fonts and assets: everything is served from this site, no request goes to Google or any other third party.
Photos and videos in the build log
Field sessions happen in places, sometimes in people’s homes. Rules I hold myself to:
- no identifiable person without their explicit consent;
- private locations anonymized by default, never an address;
- location metadata (EXIF/GPS) stripped from every image before publication.
Exercising your rights
For any question, or any request for access, correction, deletion or takedown: vie-privee@omni-core.ca. It is a dedicated address, read by the same person as everything else — it exists so that these requests do not get lost in ordinary mail.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, you need no one: the unsubscribe link in every email leads to a page that also lets you export or permanently erase your data.
